In Georgia was found a rich tomb with two chariots

Scientists from the Center of the National Museum of Archaeology of Georgia under the direction of Zurab Maharadze found a rich burial place, in which there were two chariots, gold artifacts and remains of sacrifices. Burial is dated II millennium BC and belongs to a senior official. This was said by expedition leader at the International Congress on the Archaeology of the Middle East.

The burial chamber was made of wood in a mound height of 11.8 meters (39 feet). Chariots saved four wooden wheels. Among the other artifacts in the burial were flinty and obsidian arrowheads, clay pots and wooden vessels, leather and fabric garments, carnelian and amber beads, 23 gold jewelry. Unique find is a wooden chair that has survived to the present day.

"In the burial chamber were four-wheeled chariots in very good condition, they have an elegant design with decorative elements of different styles", - said Zurab Makharadze. In the burial found the remains of seven people. According to archaeologists, one of them was the head of the clan or tribe, and the other six - his close relatives or slaves.

It is notable that the burial dates from the period when in the region horse was not yet domesticated. According to researchers, the chariots could be transported by oxen. Nevertheless, in the burial remains of animal were not found. Chair that was found in the burial mound, is a symbol of power, its presence indicates a high rank of the deceased, according to Makharadze.
