Latvia will hold a 12-week program for the Eastern Partnership

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili held in the Parliament meeting with the Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkevich.

According to the press service of the Georgian prime minister, the parties discussed an association agreement with the EU and the prospects for deepening cooperation.

The conversation touched on bilateral and multilateral relations.

It was noted that the Seym of Latvia ratified the agreement on association of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova with the EU on July 14. At an extraordinary meeting, the decision was taken unanimously.

At the statement of Iraklii Garibashvili, Latvia is a country that supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, both in the EU and in other international forums. He also stressed the stable, close and friendly relations between the two countries.

According to the explanations of Edgars Rinkevich, Latvian government's priority is to support young, stable and developing democracy in Georgia. Latvian Foreign Minister in autumn 2014 together with Riga Law School plans to implement a 12-week program, which will aim to familiarize officials and members of civil society of the Eastern Partnership with Latvia's experience.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister of Georgia Maya Panjikidze, State Minister for European Integration Alexi Petriashvili and deputy head of the government administration Nino Kobakhidze.
