According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, George Kvirikashvili construction of a deepwater Anaklia port is expected to begin in autumn 2015, and the implementation of the first two phases of the project will cost about 900 million U.S. dollars.
According Kvirikashvili, the government wants that the port was fully built on private investment, but in the project as in a strategic construction, will be provided the articles on the best international practice.
"The first phase of the project will be built in about three years. First and second phase will cost a total of about 700-900 million dollars, but it is still dependent on the income of the company that will implement the project. Completely for development of logistics and production line is required several billion U.S. dollars. I think that for this project can follow very strong growth for Georgia in the coming 10 years "- said Kvirikashvili.
According to him, the implementation of the first three phases of the project will be mandatory for the investor, and further will depend on expediency.
