"INTER RAO UES" and the Georgian government signed the memorandum of cooperation

Chairman of the Board of JSC "INTER RAO UES" Boris Kovalchuk and the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili signed a memorandum valid until March 31, 2013 on cooperation in energy.

The document provides for the reduction of the tariff for electricity supplied by SC "Telasi" to population by 3.54 GEL (incl. VAT) per kWh for groups of consumers with consumption no more than 301 kWh per month.

In the document is noted that the changes to the current consumer tariffs of SC "Telasi" have interim and temporary character and aimed at developing coordinated tariff policy towards SC "Telasi" in the period until March 31, 2013. During the first quarter, the parties agreed to enter into a long memorandum - the development of cooperation until 2025.

"The establishment of long-term electricity prices can be equally beneficial for both " Telasi "and Group" INTER RAO UES ", as well as for consumers in Georgia, including the population, - said Boris Kovalchuk. - In terms of long-term rates at SC "Telasi" will have the opportunity with the maximum precision and high efficiency to plan investments and operations, and consumers will be able to plan their funds necessary to pay the cost of electricity consumed. We welcome the readiness of the Georgian Government promptly and constructively to solve the country's power problems and are confident that our mutual cooperation will be effective".
